Albares: A ceasefire bringing hope to the Middle East and the world has been declared
Madrid, April 8 (Hibya) – Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares welcomed the ceasefire declared in the Middle East, emphasizing that the process should be expanded to include Lebanon.
Spanish Minister José Manuel Albares made a statement regarding the agreement and diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region.
Highlighting the importance of the ceasefire, Albares said, “After nearly 40 days, a ceasefire bringing hope to the Middle East and the world has been declared today. We support the critical work of the mediators, especially Pakistan. This ceasefire prevents an escalation that could have led to irreversible consequences.”
Outlining the path to lasting peace, Albares stated, “Diplomacy, negotiation, and international law are the only path to the lasting peace that the people of the Middle East deserve.”
He stressed that all parties must show responsibility and commitment to stopping attacks and reducing tensions, adding that Spain will continue to support these efforts.
He concluded by calling for the scope to be expanded: “The ceasefire must also be extended to Lebanon within the framework of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.”
