In Australia, the ASX 200 index rose 0.26% to 8,829.20 points. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index fell 0.78% to 64,813.49 points.
In India, the Nifty 50 index gained 0.65% to reach 23,146.15 points, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index climbed 0.52% to 24,186.83 points.
In China, the Shanghai Composite Index traded at 3,722.195 points, up 0.16%.
