China saw an increase in gold production and consumption in the first three quarters of the year. According to the latest data released by the China Gold Association, the country's gold production in the January-September period reached 271,248 tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.47%, while gold consumption increased by 7.32% annually to reach 835,000 tons.

The data also show that in the first 9 months of the year, the total transaction volume of all types of gold on the Shanghai Gold Exchange increased by 3.08% annually to 31,500 tons. The total transaction volume of all types of gold on the Shanghai Futures Exchange increased by 40.55% annually to 92,200 tons.
