Statistical data released by the Association of Israeli Automobile Importers reveals that Chinese electric vehicle brands constituted 62.19% of the electric vehicles sold in Israel during the first nine months of the year.

During the period from January to September, a total of 41,647 vehicles were sold in Israel, of which 25,902 were owned by Chinese companies. In the previous year, a total of 13,294 electric vehicles were sold in Israel, with approximately 48% of them being brands produced by Chinese companies.

In the first nine months of this year, 13,481 vehicles produced by the Chinese manufacturer BYD were sold in Israel. Consequently, BYD became the company with the highest number of vehicle sales in Israel, with the majority of them being the Crossover-SUV model Atto 3.

Another Chinese automaker, Geely Auto Group, sold a total of 6,180 models of the compact crossover Geometry C during the first nine months of the year and secured the second position on the list of best-selling electric vehicles in Israel. Geely, which had sold 4,254 electric vehicles in the same period of the previous year, increased its sales in Israel by 45.28% this year.

American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla ranked third in this period with 5,463 vehicles sold, followed by the South Korean brand Hyundai Motor with 4,099 vehicles. There was also a noteworthy development in the gasoline-powered car sector: Chinese manufacturer Chery Automobile, which entered the Israeli market only at the end of 2022, claimed the seventh position with 10,314 vehicles sold in the first nine months of this year.
