Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto described the leaking of wiretaps and message records through violations of investigative secrecy as a constitutional breach and emphasized the need to protect the right to a fair trial.

Explaining his position on investigative secrecy and the published records, Crosetto said, "For me, the same assessments I have always made about everyone also apply to the Report case and to Ranucci. I am disgusted by the constant violation of investigative secrecy and by the publication of wiretaps and chats that, under the law, should not be published. I see this as a violation of the Constitution and democracy."

Referring to personal rights and the principles of a fair trial, Crosetto said, "At the same time, I defend the right not to be morally judged solely on the basis of the people one associates with. I am and will continue to be a supporter of due process."

Criticizing these media practices, Crosetto concluded his statement by saying, "And I will continue to regard this kind of reporting and trial by media as unacceptable barbarism. Even if in the past he himself was one of the perpetrators of the same barbarism."
