Istanbul, April 23 (Hibya) - Stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region generally closed the day lower. A downward trend was observed in the major indices across the region.

In Australia, the ASX 200 index fell by 0.82% to 8,771.10 points. In Japan, the Nikkei index declined by 1.08% to 58,944.66 points. In India, the Nifty 50 index dropped by 0.35% to 24,292.75 points.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index lost 1.12% to fall to 25,870.37 points, while in mainland China, the Shanghai Composite Index declined by 0.79% to 4,073.71 points.
Overall, a downward trend dominated the markets across the region.
