Grandi: Funding conditions are difficult, but the results are encouraging
New York, 3 December (Hibya) – United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi announced that states have declared their first contributions for 2026 to the UNHCR at the Pledging Conference.
High Commissioner Grandi stated that countries announced their first contributions for the 2026 UNHCR budget, noting that more than one billion dollars in pledges were made.
He added that many countries pledged institutional, political and moral support for UNHCR as well as for refugees and internally displaced persons. “Although funding conditions remain difficult, the results were encouraging,” Grandi said.
