Deniz polisinden Adalar çevresinde 'deniz taksi' denetimi

Israeli President Isaac Herzog shared a message about the rescue of hundreds of Jewish children in post-Holocaust Europe through the “Children’s Train,” led 80 years ago by his grandfather, Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Isaac HaLevi Herzog.

Herzog said he met this week with Holocaust survivor David Daniely, one of those children, noting that Daniely’s life story made the meeting meaningful to him both personally as a family matter and nationally.

Herzog said the “Rescue Train,” led by his grandfather, set out exactly 80 years ago today and helped save the lives of hundreds of Jewish children in Europe after the Holocaust.

Herzog said David Daniely, who survived the Holocaust after losing most of his family, managed to survive the war years at a young age. He said Daniely lived during the war under a false identity that concealed his Jewish identity and with the help of a family recognized as “Righteous Among the Nations.”

Herzog said that after the war Daniely became part of the group known as “Rav Herzog’s Children” and later arrived in the region aboard the ship “Exodus - Exodus from Europe 5707.”

Herzog described his meeting with David Daniely 80 years later as an emotional moment.

Herzog said hearing Daniely’s life story directly from him carried special meaning because of its connection to his own family’s past, describing the meeting as “the closing of a family and national circle.”

Herzog said Daniely’s experiences demonstrate the Jewish people’s strength to rise again after the war and the Holocaust and build a new life in Israel.

Herzog expressed his pleasure at meeting Daniely and his family, saying that his life story serves as an example for future generations.
