In a social media post, President Herzog said: "Today, five new qadis took the oath of office at a ceremony held at the President's Residence to serve in Israel's Sharia courts. I was especially moved by the swearing-in of Rula Masalha-Zahalka, who became only the second female qadi in Israel's history. Congratulations."
