Jetten: As a society, we must stand with our Jewish citizens
Amsterdam, March 16 (Hibya) - Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten met with community representatives following attacks on Jewish institutions in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, emphasizing that security measures are at the highest level.
Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten made a statement regarding the attacks carried out last week on a Jewish school in Amsterdam and a synagogue in Rotterdam.
Describing the attacks as “cowardly,” Jetten said, “The attacks last week on a Jewish school in Amsterdam and a synagogue in Rotterdam are shocking and unacceptable. These acts deeply affected the entire Jewish community in the Netherlands and created a sense of fear.”
Referring to the meeting he held with David van Weel and Eddo Verdoner, Jetten stated, “I met with representatives of the Jewish community. Their fears and anger deeply moved me. There is no place for antisemitism in the Netherlands.”
Emphasizing that the safety of Jewish citizens is under the guarantee of the state, Prime Minister Jetten concluded his statement by saying, “I stressed that the safety of Dutch Jews has the full attention of the cabinet and all security partners. As a society, we must stand with our Jewish citizens. Do not remain silent in the face of antisemitism—raise your voice. This cannot and should not be the responsibility of the Jewish community alone.”
