Announcing Sweden's decision to assist with the ongoing wildfires in France, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said: "Sweden is helping France fight large-scale wildfires. When people, nature, and communities are under threat, European countries must be able to support one another."

Sharing details about Sweden's search-and-rescue and firefighting capabilities, Kristersson stated: "Through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, Sweden is sending firefighting aircraft to contribute to the operation. The operation is a demonstration of Sweden's civil preparedness capabilities."

Emphasizing the country's rapid response capacity, Kristersson said: "Our ability to quickly mobilize resources and assist another country is clear proof of the capacity we are building for Sweden's security and for a stronger Europe."

Kristersson concluded his statement by saying: "We extend our sincere thanks to the Swedish crews and all other personnel who have made this operation possible."
