Rome, September 24 (Hibya) – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said the Council of Ministers had approved a decree concerning schools, introducing a 30 percent cap on the number of students in classrooms who do not have sufficient Italian language skills and banning the wearing of burqas and niqabs in schools.

Meloni said the decree introduces a 30 percent cap on the number of students in classrooms who do not have sufficient Italian language skills, provides more opportunities for language learning, and bans the wearing of burqas and niqabs in schools.
Meloni said the measures promote integration rather than segregation, adding, “These are common-sense measures that prevent the formation of ghetto classrooms and guarantee equal opportunities for all students.”
Emphasizing that the path they aim to follow is to ensure integration without compromising on rules, Meloni said those facing the greatest difficulties should be supported and everyone should be given the same starting point.
