Metsola meets with Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdelatty
Brussels, June 15 (Hibya) - European Parliament President Roberta Metsola emphasized the importance of regional stability and EU–Egypt cooperation during her meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty following the agreement between the United States (U.S.) and Iran that foresees the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Metsola met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Abdelatty at the European Parliament.
During the meeting, the parties discussed developments in the region following the announced agreement between the United States and Iran, which includes the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Metsola stressed the importance of diplomatic engagement in this process and stated that cooperation between the European Union and Egypt should be strengthened.
Metsola noted that keeping channels of dialogue open is critical for preserving regional stability and overcoming global challenges. Thanking Egypt for its diplomatic role, she also highlighted the strategic importance of the EU–Egypt partnership.
The meeting was regarded as an important diplomatic engagement in which international diplomacy and energy security emerged as key topics against the backdrop of recent developments in the Middle East.
