In Australia, the ASX 200 index fell 0.15 percent to 8,831 points, while Japan's Nikkei 225 index declined 0.57 percent to 69,346.89 points.
Meanwhile, India's Nifty 50 index rose 0.47 percent to 24,338.15 points. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 0.83 percent to 23,542.97 points, while China's Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.08 percent to 4,046.705 points.
