Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar met Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed the longstanding ties between Pakistan and Iran and discussed the latest regional developments. Dar expressed concern over the recent rise in regional tensions, stressing that all parties should prioritize dialogue, restraint, de-escalation, and diplomatic engagement to achieve lasting peace and stability. He also underlined the importance of implementing the understandings reached in Islamabad in June 2026.

Araghchi, in turn, appreciated Pakistan's diplomatic efforts to promote regional peace and security. He also thanked Pakistan for its support in ensuring the safe return of Iranian fishermen and crew members, including those aboard vessels detained by the United States.
