The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the joint statement by Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom to impose restrictions at national and European levels on trade in products with settlements considered illegal under international law.

In a statement, the ministry said it appreciated the decision by the United Kingdom, France and Canada to take steps toward banning trade in settlement products and called on other countries to take similar measures.

The statement stressed that Israel must immediately cease illegal settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and called for a ban on trade in settlement products to be the first step, supported by broader sanctions.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to implement the relevant resolutions, particularly United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, and to comply with the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.
