UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell assessed the steps taken by countries in line with the goals of the Global Compact for Migration and drew attention to the importance of child-focused policies.

Emphasizing the importance of the forum, Russell said, “The 2026 International Migration Review Forum is an important opportunity to advance the rights of children on the move.”

Calling on the international community to take action, Executive Director Russell said, “As countries review progress on the Global Compact for Migration, UNICEF calls for urgent action to protect and support children, wherever they are.”
