Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar issued a statement on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day.

Sa’ar congratulated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and the Ukrainian people, highlighting the resilience of the Ukrainian people and their steadfast commitment to freedom and independence.

Noting that this year is especially meaningful as it marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Israel and Ukraine, Sa’ar said the two countries have developed a strong partnership over the years based on mutual respect, shared values and close ties between their peoples.

Sa’ar said the ongoing war has deepened the challenges facing Ukraine and expressed hope that the coming year will bring security, prosperity and lasting peace to Ukraine and its people.
