Storms slow US pier construction off Gaza
Stockholm, May 5 (Hibya) - As 2.2 million people in Gaza starve and wait for emergency aid, bad weather on the coast has slowed the construction of a temporary floating dock that was supposed to facilitate the delivery of emergency aid.
CNN reports that US defence began construction last week, but high winds and waves made it too dangerous for soldiers to work on the platform at sea.
Instead, some personnel have been moved to the port in Ashdod, Israel, and the construction process will return to the pier when weather conditions improve.
According to CNN, about a thousand US soldiers are working on constructing the pier, which is expected to be completed next week.
