Sybiha meets with Israeli Foreign Minister Saar
Kyiv, 28 January (Hibya) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that during his meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar they discussed the commemoration of the Holocaust, the peace process, and shared security threats.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha issued a statement regarding his meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar.
Sybiha said: “Ukraine, together with Israel and the entire world, mourns the victims of the Holocaust. Yesterday we took part in a high-level commemoration ceremony. At the Babyn Yar Memorial in Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelensky honored the memory of all Jews murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust.”
Noting that he also addressed Russia’s attacks, Sybiha added: “I informed my colleague about the consequences of Russia’s large-scale attacks and Ukraine’s urgent needs to restore its energy infrastructure.”
Sybiha stated that the parties also discussed the process aimed at achieving lasting peace.
He said: “We exchanged views on key items of our bilateral agenda and common security risks, including threats posed by the Iranian regime.” Criticizing Iran’s leadership, Sybiha added: “We strongly condemn the brutal violence and repression by Iranian authorities against their own people. In light of the killing and injury of many individuals, international pressure on Tehran must be increased.”
Concluding his remarks, Sybiha said: “I thank my colleague for the constructive dialogue and for showing solidarity with the Ukrainian people.”
