Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Ukraine had initiated an urgent discussion of the humanitarian situation in Oleshky at the OSCE Permanent Council.

Sybiha said the issue, placed on the agenda under the title “The catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Ukrainian city of Oleshky,” would be discussed tomorrow. He said the Ukrainian delegation would brief participating states on what it described as a situation in which civilians, including children, were being held hostage in territory under Russian occupation.

Sybiha said the situation in Oleshky was critical and required urgent intervention by the international community. He called on Switzerland, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, and participating states to exert pressure on Russia, saying that the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to Oleshky must be ensured.
