Trump: Lebanon and Israel agree on a 10-day ceasefire
Washington, April 16 (Hibya) – U.S. President Donald Trump announced that, following his meetings with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the two countries agreed on a ceasefire.
U.S. President Donald Trump made a statement regarding the peace process between Lebanon and Israel and the diplomatic contacts conducted in Washington.
Sharing details of the ceasefire, Trump said: “I just had excellent conversations with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. These two leaders agreed to officially begin a 10-day ceasefire at 5:00 PM Eastern Time to ensure peace between their countries.”
Referring to the negotiations, Trump stated: “On Tuesday, for the first time in 34 years, the two countries met here in Washington, D.C., with the participation of our Secretary of State Marco Rubio. I have instructed Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Rubio, together with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan ‘Razin’ Caine, to work toward achieving lasting peace between Israel and Lebanon.”
Emphasizing his determination in peace efforts, Trump added: “It has been an honor for me to resolve 9 wars around the world, and this will be my 10th—let’s get it done!”
