Tsahkna: Attacks against UNIFIL are unacceptable
Tallinn, April 23 (Hibya) – Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna called for an end to the attacks, noting that a French peacekeeper serving in southern Lebanon had been killed.
Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna made a statement regarding the death of a French soldier serving within the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
Tsahkna said, “A French peacekeeping soldier serving under UNIFIL in southern Lebanon has tragically lost his life. I extend my deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and the French people.”
Reacting to the attacks, Tsahkna stated, “These attacks must stop immediately. Attacks against those working for peace and stability are unacceptable.”
He added, “Deliberate attacks targeting peacekeepers are serious violations of international humanitarian law, and those responsible must be held accountable.”
Tsahkna also said, “Estonia stands in full solidarity with France and the UNIFIL mission.”
