Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the Estonian capital, Tallinn, to discuss the alliance's defense capabilities and military support for Ukraine.

Speaking after the meeting, Tsahkna said NATO had consistently demonstrated its readiness to defend every inch of allied territory. "To ensure that this remains the case in the years ahead, today in Tallinn we discussed with Mark Rutte how to turn increasing defense investments into real capabilities and how to maintain NATO's deterrence and defense strength," he said.

Noting that support for Ukraine was also discussed, Tsahkna said, "Our goal must be a just and lasting peace. Military assistance to Ukraine must continue so that it can defend itself against Russian aggression."

Emphasizing the importance of NATO's PURL mechanism, Tsahkna stated, "NATO's PURL mechanism remains important, and Estonia will provide an additional 10 million euros to Ukraine through this initiative."
