European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen discussed the latest regional developments and Bahrain’s security with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

In a statement regarding the meeting, Von der Leyen said, “I told King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa that Iran’s attacks on Manama are unjust and unacceptable. I expressed my full solidarity with the people of Bahrain. The country has always been a voice of wisdom, promoting engagement and dialogue.”

Referring to the importance of stability in the Gulf region for Europe, Von der Leyen stated, “We stand with Bahrain in seeking a diplomatic solution for lasting stability and peace in the region. The security of the Gulf is closely linked to our own security. This is also important for Europe’s strategic interests.”
