Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong congratulated Indonesia on the anniversary of its independence and reiterated Australia's commitment to Indonesia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Extending her congratulations, Minister Wong said, "I extend my best wishes to the people and government of Indonesia as they celebrate their 81st anniversary of independence today."

Highlighting the strategic ties and treaty obligations between the two countries, Wong concluded her statement by saying, "Indonesia is one of our closest partners, and under the Lombok Treaty, our commitment to Indonesia's sovereignty and territorial integrity continues."
