Zelensky met with Pope Leo XIV
Kyiv, December 9 (Hibya) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with the Head of the Vatican State, Pope Leo XIV.
Zelensky said that Ukraine deeply appreciates all the support from Pope Leo XIV and the Vatican.
During the audience, he thanked the Pope for his continuous prayers for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, as well as for his calls for a just peace, adding:
“I informed the Pope about the diplomatic efforts carried out with the United States to achieve peace. We discussed the next steps, including the Vatican’s mediation aimed at returning our children who were abducted by Russia.”
Zelensky added: “I am grateful to the Pope for all his support efforts toward young Ukrainians. I thank him for this valuable meeting and for the attention shown to our people. I invited the Pope to visit Ukraine. Such a visit would be a strong message of support for our nation.”
