According to a statement by Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Geneva, participated in an interactive dialogue session on the human rights of women and children in conflict and post-conflict situations as part of the 63rd session of the Human Rights Council.

The session was held under item 3 of the agenda of the 63rd session of the Human Rights Council.

Speaking on behalf of Qatar, Al Muftah emphasized the great importance of protecting women and children during and after armed conflicts, noting that this is a priority in Qatar’s foreign policy, diplomacy and humanitarian assistance programs.

Al Muftah stated that Qatar has implemented various international initiatives in this context. These include Resolution 60/19, pursued jointly with the Republic of Costa Rica to promote and protect the human rights of women and children in conflict and post-conflict situations, as well as the “Women in Conflict Zones” initiative, launched in September 2022 to strengthen the protection of women and ensure their effective participation in peace processes.
