During the meeting, cooperation in various fields between the two sides was discussed. It was emphasized that dialogue in the areas of security, energy and transportation continues successfully. The importance of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council meetings recently held in Azerbaijan was highlighted, and Azerbaijan’s contribution to Europe’s energy security as well as its natural gas exports to 10 European countries were brought to the forefront.

At the meeting, Azerbaijan’s role in the region in transportation, logistics and connectivity projects, the TRIPP project within the Middle Corridor and the EU’s contribution to the reconstruction of the Nakhchivan railway line were discussed.

Opportunities for cooperation in expanding trade relations based on a preferential tariff system, the Azerbaijan–Armenia peace agenda and the EU’s support for this process, as well as digital transformation, artificial intelligence and the establishment of data centers were also addressed.

At the end of the meeting, President Ilham Aliyev and European Council President Antonio Costa made a joint press statement.
