During the conversation, concern was expressed over the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, and views were exchanged on their possible impact on the South Caucasus region.

German Chancellor Merz stated that he welcomed the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and emphasized its importance for regional stability.

Aliyev and Merz also discussed the future of bilateral relations and issues related to expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
