Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen highlighted the special relationship between the Netherlands and Suriname, stating that cooperation between the two countries continues, saying, "There is a special and close relationship between the Netherlands and Suriname. Looking to the future and cooperating also requires paying attention to the past."

Minister Berendsen emphasized that alongside joint efforts for the future, attention should also be given to the past.

He announced that he had accepted the recommendations of the Advisory Council on Openness and Information Management regarding more accessible archives and transparency.

It was stated that the decision aims to provide more open information management for the public and facilitate access to state archives.
