Brazilian President Lula criticizes the international system
Brazil, April 20 (Hibya) – Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva made a statement on global security and the international system.
Lula stated that in a disordered world it is not enough to ensure stability only at the national level, saying: “The dominance of power over law is the most serious threat to international peace and security.”
Expressing concern over developments in Iran and Lebanon as well as the situation in Palestine and Ukraine, Lula said that the United Nations remains ineffective in its current structure.
Recalling that Brazil and Germany have long supported reform of the UN Security Council, Lula emphasized the need to strengthen multilateralism. “Humanity must revive the idea that peace is both morally necessary and politically possible,” he said.
