Canada announced that it welcomes the new agreement announced between the United States (US) and Iran.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney thanked Pakistan, Qatar, and other regional actors who played a role in facilitating the agreement.

Carney emphasized that a lasting ceasefire should both ensure safe and uninterrupted passage through the Strait of Hormuz and address the security risks arising from Iran’s nuclear program.

In his statement, Carney called on all parties to avoid escalation and continue the dialogue process in good faith, adding that Canada is ready to work with international partners to support regional stability and lasting peace.
