Cooper: The Strait of Hormuz must be fully reopened
London, April 10 (Hibya) - UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper drew attention to the negative effects of restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz on global trade and domestic prices.
UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper addressed maritime security and free trade issues in her speech at Mansion House.
Taking a clear stance on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, Cooper said: "I made it clear in my Mansion House speech: the Strait of Hormuz must be fully reopened, without any restrictions or transit fees."
Emphasizing the economic importance of the waterway, Cooper said: "Disrupting this vital waterway hits trade around the world and prices in our country."
Referring to international maritime law and freedom of navigation, Cooper stated: "Freedom of navigation means navigation must be free."
