The second summit between the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom will be held in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, on November 20, 2026.

European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will host UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham as part of the summit.

The summit aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between the parties and develop cooperation to ensure peace and security in Europe. The leaders are expected to assess the progress made in bilateral relations since the first EU-UK Summit held in London on May 19, 2025.

Discussions are expected to cover the defense and security partnership, energy, agriculture and food rules, climate, people-to-people contacts, migration and cooperation between law enforcement agencies. The leaders are also expected to discuss the next steps in bilateral relations and global and regional developments affecting shared interests.

A joint declaration is expected to be issued at the end of the summit.

Following the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union in 2020, relations between the parties have been governed by various arrangements, including the Withdrawal Agreement, the Windsor Framework, the Trade and Cooperation Agreement and the agreement concerning Gibraltar.
