China begins humanitarian aid shipments to Venezuela

China’s first batch of emergency humanitarian relief supplies for those affected by the disaster in Venezuela departed from Beijing Capital International Airport last night en route to Caracas, the capital of Venezuela.

The aircraft, carrying approximately 80 tons of relief supplies, includes 20 generators, eight mobile water purification systems, 200 disinfection devices, 200 solar-powered lighting systems, more than 1,700 tents, and over 6,700 blankets. Additional relief supplies needed in the affected areas will be delivered in phases according to the plan.

Immediately after the disaster, which caused extensive loss of life and property in Venezuela, the Chinese government provided an initial round of emergency financial humanitarian assistance in a spirit of solidarity. To support post-disaster recovery efforts, the Chinese government has also decided to send additional emergency humanitarian relief supplies worth 100 million yuan to Venezuela.
