Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye condemn attacks on Gaza
Gaza, August 21 (Hibya) - Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye, which are mediating the ceasefire process in Gaza, condemned Israel’s latest attacks on the Gaza Strip.
According to CCTV, Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye, which are mediating the ceasefire process in Gaza, condemned Israel’s latest attacks on the Gaza Strip.
In a joint statement issued by the three countries on Thursday, deep concern was expressed over the ongoing attacks in Gaza.
The joint statement said the increase in Israeli attacks was undermining regional and international efforts to end the Gaza conflict. The three countries emphasized that violations occurring under the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip were concerning.
Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye called on Israel to fully comply with all of its obligations under the ceasefire agreement.
The joint statement also said Israel should refrain from actions that would further escalate tensions and worsen the current situation in Gaza.
The three mediator countries also called on the international community and the U.S.-led “Board of Peace” to exert effective pressure on Israel in order to prevent further escalation.
Meanwhile, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy described Israel as a “rogue state.”
Fahmy accused Israel of disregarding international law and repeatedly violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries.
Fahmy’s statement also drew attention to Israel’s continued expansion of settlements in the occupied West Bank. He argued that the absence of an effective accountability mechanism for Israel’s actions continued to encourage the country to operate outside the bounds of international law.
The statements came as Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip continued and diplomatic initiatives regarding the Gaza ceasefire plan intensified once again.
An Israeli airstrike on Wednesday reportedly targeted a municipal police station operated by Hamas in central Gaza.
According to Palestinian sources, at least 9 Palestinians, including one woman, were killed in the attack.
