The EU Council celebrated Ireland’s National Day via social media, sharing the message: “Happy National Day, Ireland!” The statement emphasized that St. Patrick’s Day, celebrated on March 17, honors Irish culture and heritage.
The Council also provided information about the origins of Halloween: “Halloween began in Ireland 2,000 years ago with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain.”
