Guterres: Food equivalent to 1 billion meals is wasted every day
New York, March 30 (Hibya) – United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres drew attention to global food waste and called for zero-waste food systems.
UN Secretary-General Guterres stated that every day, enough food is thrown away to prepare 1 billion meals.
Emphasizing that 9 percent of humanity is going hungry, Guterres said: "We cannot take food for granted."
Highlighting the need for sustainable solutions on a global scale, Guterres called: "Let us build together the zero-waste food systems we need to feed both people and the planet."
