Guterres: Fossil fuels are destroying our planet and holding economies hostage
New York, April 22 (Hibya) – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for phasing out fossil fuels and accelerating the transition to renewable energy.
Antonio Guterres emphasized that current energy systems negatively impact the environment and the economy and that energy transformation is inevitable for a sustainable future.
He said: “Fossil fuels are destroying our planet and holding economies hostage. Renewable energy offers what fossil fuels can never deliver: real and lasting energy security.”
Guterres added: “Let us make the right choice for climate stability, energy security and a livable future, and launch the renewable energy revolution.”
