UK Defence Secretary John Healey met with surviving veterans at the British Normandy Memorial as part of the D-Day anniversary commemorations, emphasizing their legacy and the responsibility to protect freedom.

John Healey stated that it was a great honor for him to meet the veterans during the historic remembrance ceremony.

Highlighting the impact of the soldiers’ sacrifices on world history, Healey said, “Their courage changed the course of history and helped secure peace for generations.”

Recalling the responsibility that falls on today’s generations, Minister Healey said, “Today, we are aware of our responsibility to preserve their legacy and the freedoms they fought for.”
