IAEA Director General Grossi meets with ambassadors of GCC member states
Vienna, June 21 (Hibya) – International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi met today with ambassadors of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states accredited to the IAEA.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi held a meeting with ambassadors of GCC member states accredited to the agency.
During the meeting, the ambassadors expressed their concerns about the current situation and highlighted their particular interest in the safety of nuclear facilities located near GCC countries. They emphasized the importance of a high level of preparedness and preventive measures.
The ambassadors warned of the serious humanitarian and environmental consequences of targeting nuclear facilities, noting that such actions pose a direct threat to radiological safety and the international nuclear oversight system, as well as a clear violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
