The Israeli government approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's proposal to prohibit the import of products manufactured wholly or partly through forced labor.

According to a statement from the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, the Minister of Economy and Industry has been tasked with preparing regulations prohibiting the import of products made with forced labor in line with internationally recognized legal standards.

The statement added that an interministerial team chaired by the Prime Minister's National Economic Council will prepare the mechanism for implementing and overseeing the regulation, which will be submitted to the government for approval within 90 days.

Under the decision, professional criteria will be established to identify products made with forced labor, a competent decision-making authority will be designated, and notification, objection, and review mechanisms will be created.

The Israeli government stated that the measure aims to strengthen its commitment to combating human trafficking and forced labor, increase compliance with international trade standards, and support the position of Israeli exporters in global markets.
