Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a message marking the August 2 Roma and Sinti Genocide Remembrance Day, honoring the Roma and Sinti victims murdered by the Nazi regime.

In a statement shared on the ministry's social media account, it was emphasized that the Roma and Sinti shared the same fate as the Jewish people under Nazi persecution. "On August 2, we commemorate the genocide committed by the Nazi regime against the Roma and Sinti people. On this day in 1944, more than 3,000 Roma and Sinti prisoners were murdered at Auschwitz-Birkenau," the statement said.

Highlighting the importance of preserving the memory of the victims, the ministry added: "We honor the victims, preserve their memory, and stand united against evil. May their memory be a blessing. Never again."
