Kallas: Proposal for Black Sea navigation safety agreement rejected
Brussels, October 20 (Hibya) - European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas called for an agreement to guarantee freedom of navigation in the Black Sea, stating that Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukraine's export routes.
European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas stated that Russia's attacks in the Black Sea are making it more difficult to maintain food supplies worldwide.
In a statement shared on her social media account, Kallas said, "Russia is stepping up its attacks on Ukraine's export routes. Its aggression in the Black Sea is making it harder to put food on people's tables around the world."
Kaja Kallas noted that an agreement ensuring freedom of navigation in the Black Sea would protect lives and vital supplies, adding that Ukraine had put forward such a proposal, but Russia rejected it.
Kallas emphasized that diplomatic efforts must go hand in hand with sustained pressure on Moscow and continued support for Ukraine.
