European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos stated that today marks an important day for the EU enlargement process and announced progress achieved by candidate countries as part of “Mega Monday”.

Kos announced that Ukraine and Moldova are set to achieve one of the most significant advances so far in their EU accession negotiations, which began in 2023.

She also stated that two additional negotiation chapters with Montenegro will be closed, bringing the total number of closed chapters close to half of all chapters.

While describing these developments as “a day to celebrate,” Kos also emphasized that candidate countries should accelerate their reform processes.
