Swedish Prime Minister Kristersson made a statement regarding Canada’s decision to select Saab GlobalEye as its new airborne early warning and control system.

Kristersson stated that with this decision, Canada became the fourth country to use the GlobalEye system, adding that he was pleased to see Canada join the network after Sweden, France, and the United Arab Emirates.

Emphasizing that the system is a modern and highly capable platform, Kristersson said that with this step, Canada would both strengthen its sovereignty capabilities and contribute to NATO’s collective defense. He noted that the system would play an important role especially in surveillance and control in the Arctic region.

Kristersson also pointed out that the GlobalEye system is built on the Canadian-made Bombardier Global 6500 platform, stating that this contributes to employment in Canada and strengthens supply chain cooperation.

Kristersson added that the decision further deepens the strategic ties between the two countries.
