Lahbib warns of winter conditions in Gaza
Brussels, September 4 (Hibya) – European Commissioner for Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib said preparations for winter in Gaza remain inadequate as rainfall approaches, calling for urgent support for shelter and basic needs.
Lahbib said, “Winter preparations in Gaza are seriously behind. Ninety-four percent of the population needs shelter and essential non-food items.”
Warning that rainfall could cause waste and sewage to overflow in severely overcrowded areas, Lahbib said families are trying to create living spaces under these conditions.
Lahbib said, “This is a race against time. Support for shelter, clean water and waste management is needed now.”
