In his statement, Lammy said that it is unacceptable for the party to present hate speech as “British values”. Emphasizing that the UK, as he knows and loves it, is a tolerant and diverse country that takes pride in this diversity, Lammy stated: “The hatred towards Muslims spread by the Conservative Party has no place in our politics or our society.”
