On May 5, a phone call was held between Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Al Thani.

During the call, the situation in and around the Strait of Hormuz was assessed.

The parties expressed a common view that attempts to resolve the crisis through the use of force should be abandoned. It was also emphasized that all relevant parties should make joint efforts toward a sustainable and long-term solution that takes into account the legitimate security interests of the Persian Gulf countries and preserves the principle of freedom of navigation.
